Perfection Is The Enemy of Achievement

You can not pursue perfection and success at the same time- as the pursuit of perfection is associated with low level risk taking. Success on the other hand requires the pursuit of risk.

Hi Team…

I wanted to talk about a word with you today.

The word is: Perfection

Below is the definition of the word…

PERFECTION:

: the quality or state of being perfect: such as

a: freedom from fault or defect

b: the quality or state of being saintly

2a: an exemplification of supreme excellence

b: an unsurpassable degree of accuracy or excellence

Now- when you look at what the word, perfection actually means, do you see how difficult, or impossible it is to achieve?

Yet-most high performers are still chasing perfection- an impossible achievement.

And, they are killing themselves to do the impossible.

A few years ago I was listening to a talk my buddy Kevin Plank, the CEO and Founder of Under Armour was giving..

I never forgot what he said…

Perfection is the enemy of innovation. Just start.

Now, that is great advice.

Think about it- if you wait for perfection to appear, you will never take action.

If you are waiting to be a certain way before doing something, or, waiting for the starts to align for you- they won’t.

The key to building anything, a building, a life, a career, a business, you name it is simply taking one simple action after the next.

Yesterday, I was reading a book that had another great thought I would like to share with you…

“The traditional school and learning system most of us are exposed to in our youth teaches us not to fail. We are given a grade and taught not to fail. This is the greatest
