Winning in Business is the Result of Self-Domination over Temptation.
Are you mission focused?
Success.
One of the biggest buzz-words of our era.
We talk about the word. We all give our own meaning to the word.
But, let’s face it, success for the most part is still defined based on finances and status here in the US of A.
So, now that we know that, we can put all the touchy, feely, definitions aside.. and get down to business.
Now, I am not saying being a great parent, being a great friend, and living with great vitality is not important or a demonstration of success. Those are the obvious building blocks of success- an expectation of being a good, responsible human being.
Success is all of those things + everything else you want and expect of yourself.
Many people feel they have to pick one or the other.
The reality is though, you can have it all.
You should work to have it all.
Being a great parent and living in a shack is not a great feeling. You can justify it as not being that important, but it is. And, you know it is. You know you want your kids to live in a great neighborhood, go to great schools, and have a great life. That is fact.
So let’s continue our discussion on WINNING in all parts of your life. Having success across the spectrum.
WINNING.
Winning is important. Winning in all aspects of you life means you are “in-pursuit” of excellence across the board. That is what you stand for. That is the standard you set for yourself and the message you are showing your family.
The only issue with this is when you are sacrificing your core values, family, and character in order to win.
In my personal journey to the top of Professional Sports, I was greeted with much temptation. Every temptation you could think of.
I resisted.
In my business journey, I was greeted with temptations from get-rich-quick schemes, to short-cuts from marketers, to over-priced mastermind groups and courses led by those who had the “answers” to speed up my curb.
I resisted.
You see, I found the key to success is really staying true to your values, your character, and your personal mission.
The more I have been able to dial-in and double down on what “I” really want and stand for, the better I became.
Never selling out. Never following the masses. Always sticking to my core and staying focused on “the mission”.
The Mission: Helping People. Inspiring People. Motivating People. Coaching.
Whenever I even think of going against “the mission”, I feel pain in my gut.
Whenever I am baited by the short-cut, the web-wizard/ guru that claims to have the answers, I feel more pain.
The only way to really succeed and feel great about it, is to keep your “mission” in front of you at all times.
Your autonomy, individualistic mindset, and renegade mentality to work against the grain is where your personal power and greatness is born.
Forget the self-imposed timelines. Forget the “where you think you should be’s” by now, and simply go out each day attacking your “mission”.
If you attack the “mission” each day, even if it just a small effort on the days you are not feeling 100%, that is 365 days of execution in a calendar year.
Do that year over year for 10+ years. That is how you achieve success. Daily execution. Intense self-belief even when nobody else may see or understand your “mission” and “why”.
Being Self-Disciplined to the nth degree everyday and never selling your soul to the success devils you will come across.
I have been promised the world by people. It never worked out.
Been told that by meeting so and so, my life will be totally changed.
Never happened.
I have never been a part of the “click” or the “club”.
This used to upset me.
Until, I realized everybody in the club was just a replica of one another. They are the industry “cool-kids” that are usually 1/2 competent practitioners with great marketing skills. Self-promoting, ego maniacs.
(How are you trying to help me if you are showing off your leased car, jet-smarter plane, and your fabricated instagram life?)
That is not for me.
My club is my family. My club is all of those people I get to touch every time I write, speak, podcast, and train. That is my club. My tribe.
Personally, overselling and fitting in has never been my thing.
Joining the Yankees at 19 years old was not the result of following hierarchy or pecking order. It was the result of doing things differently.
Not listening to others but instead following my personal compass that always gets me home: My Gut.
So, always stay true to yourself. Nobody takes the same path or has to.
Don’t believe the false promises and false hustlers. Many of these people are sitting in their basement trying to create content and are actually more confused than you are. Forget em!
Find your mission. Attack Every Day. Change YOUR World by changing the world of others.
That is success. Now go get some!
- Never forget, you have the power. You can do anything. You can have it all. But, you have to truly believe you can. Take small steps everyday. These lead to mini victories. Those little wins add up over time. Play the long game.
